WELCOME NOTE

Dear friends and colleagues,

We are honored to invite you to join us on the 1st Bone Marrow Transplant Workshop of Republic of North Macedonia future perspectives and challenges. The workshop will take place at the Dean premises/amphitheater of the Medical Faculty-Skopje, between 12th to 13th of April 2019.

It was a tremendous challenge to organize this workshop, hence it presents a big reward for the entire team who worked on the preparation. Since 2000 year, when the hematopoietic stem cell transplantation was introduced as a treatment option in our University Clinic of Haematology-Skopje, more than 500 transplant procedures are performed, out of which 57 in 2018. Furthermore, the matched unrelated transplant program was successfully introduced in November 2018. Additionally, in January 2019, the Clinic has signed memorandum of understanding with the University Clinic of paediatrics-Skopje after which we introduced the program of related and unrelated matched transplantation for children older than 3 years.

In the scope of all these events, we want to organise a scientific meeting dedicated to the transplantation. The name of the workshop is 500 transplantation; future perspective and challenges. Our target audience are the Macedonian haematologists, but also haematologists from Albania and Kosovo, Montenegro and Bosnia and Hercegovina, Mediterranean and Balkan countries where the mentioned methods of treatment are still not available.

Our speakers are a group of outstanding experts that will have the opportunity to network with the Congress attendees. We designed our program to be a stimulating, interactive and educational opportunity for every attendee.

We tried to ensure the best agenda for our colleagues. We offer short, but very comprehensive and interesting program.

Please join us and experience with us the State of Art updates in bone marrow transplantation.

You will have the opportunity to refresh your knowledge in the field, confirm your current practices and receive valuable take-home information that will give new perspective for your patients. Additionally, I would like to mention that our country is a very interesting and attractive tourist destination with a rich and interesting history, old churches, beautiful mountains, natural lakes, green areas, delicious food and well-known hospitality.
We look forward to seeing you in April 2019 and together we will make the Workshop an important and memorable scientific event.

Sincerely yours,

Professor Irina Panovska-Stavridis, Workshop chair
